If you are like me and have a HTPC (I have a few), then you will understand the difficulty it is to try and record a High Def or semi-premium (FLIX) channel without having to hook up your cable box (and thus sometime having to change the channel to record the channel you want), or even try and get a computer with a cable card slot. Then try getting the cable card!

Happauge has come out with a new TV Tuner card that promises to solve these problems (except Premium HBO, Showtime, Cinemax). Their new card now has a QAM decoder that will allow Windows Media Center to now record those channels that it wasn’t capable of recording before. \

Here is a quick snipet:

“The Win-TV-HVR-2250 does everything short of unscrambling Cinemax. It
features two hybrid digital tuners—hybrid because they can decode
several different types of signals. Each NXP TDA18271HD tuner chip can
decode NTSC, ATSC, and clear Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM)
signals. Because Vista doesn’t support QAM (yet), Hauppauge has
written a special plug-in that lets its cards decode those signals.”

This is awesome news and the price is very reasonable.

To read more:

I will be ordering one!

I just wanted to give you a quick update on the latest happenings with the A.V.E. web site. After going through countless design changes, layouts, look & functionality, I have finally picked a theme. Now for those of you that are avid web designers and all, it may sound like I am wasting way too much time. Well, I agree.

The problem is that I am a perfectionist. Some of my customers know this by their sometimes late delivery of their projects. A few usually tell me that they need it a week earlier knowing that I’ll probably be a week late. But when they get their delivery, they are always extremely happy with the results. Photo montages aren’t dead!

So now we get to the good part. The upload. While I have a few projects at home that need much attention, I should have enough time to upload the base pages. From there, initial content and then a continuous update onwards. Since I hired a company to do the design (for a flat rate), that also has to keep within the boundaries of my hosting service (1 and 1), It took most of the coding out of my hands. I am certainly no web designer. This will leave me the major burden of loading the content. That I can do!

So, with that said, keep an eye out as the site will be uploaded soon!

on yahoo….

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/amateurvideoediting/

I will write soon.

Hey all!

What a great way to link two Powerhouses! Video Maker & Amateur Video Editing

We at A.V.E. are getting ready to launch our new site (click the link above) and decided that we should start a little blog over here as well. Our website is to continue to assist you in your Video Editing skills, just like VideoMaker. I love this site and find so many useful tools, articles, reviews, etc….

For those of you that don’t know A.V.E, we are a group of editors looking to help others from the beginner to the professional. We are a stew of people helping each other out and getting the word out on video editing.

Since I have been real busy getting the site together, I haven’t had much time to do anything else. I will continue to post our progress and thoughts here.

In the meantime, you can always post your questions at our Yahoo Group:
