ACID Xpress is the first audio editor I ever used. I edited all my music and dialogue, rendered it and then imported into Windows Movie Maker’s one audio track. It is GREAT, just like the pro version.
You can only export MP3 20 times before you are not allowed to any more, so watch out! You are free to import any format as often as you like. You can always export WMA and RM, but only up to a certain quality. You will need NCH Switch to convert WMA/RM to something else.
ACID Xpress is meant to give you a taste of what you can do if you upgrade to ACID Music Studio or ACID Pro, so there are some things you can’t do. The Beatmapper, plugins and video are unavailable. by far, the most annoying thing about it is not that you can’t use these, but the nagging windows that pop up every time you try to use them. These windows just try to sell you ACID Music Studio. One even comes up every time you close the program. ANNOYING! ACID is mainly for music creation. It’s loop based, and you can get loops from www.acidplanet.com
EDIT: The latest version of ACID Xpress (version 7) gives you the option of adding a video track (to line up your audio with video) and unlimited MP3 encoding. YES!!
Tutorials: The good part is you get Show Me How tutorials so you can learn how to do the basics of what ACID does. If you enable the Welcome screen to come on, you will have the Show Me How tutorials right there in front of you and can learn how to do all kinds of things.
