Summary and Other Audio Freeware
In summary, Audacity is still the best in terms of all-around audio capabilities. Still, WavePad will be better for those who don’t need a multi-track mixer, since it’s effects are a little more complex and you can put it together with other NCH software such as Switch.
ACID Xpress is a great program to me since I like Sony’s products. It definitely cannot do everything the real ACID can, but I’ll still use it. And Reaper isn’t even freeware, so I’m just gonna forget it.
I think it must be a whole lot easier to make good audio freeware than good video freeware. The audio programs in this section as a whole are a lot easier to get good results with than the video software as a whole in the last section.
But there’s still some audio software I haven’t used yet:
KRISTAL Audio Engine – Shareware-type. You have to buy a license to use it for commercial purposes. Non-commercial/personal/educational use is free. Go to http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/
Mixxx – Seems like a program for DJs to use live. I’m not sure since I haven’t really studied it. You can go to http://www.mixxx.org/
