Cool-Lux Announces Gels/Diffusers for the SL3000 On-Camera Light

Wednesday, July 31st, 2002

Reprinted from a Cool-Lux press release:

CAMARILLO, CA (June 27, 2002) Cool-Lux Lighting Industries, designers and manufacturers of professional lighting equipment for over 25 years is now shipping a gel and filter frame holder kit created exclusively for the popular SL3000 On-Camera Mini-Combo Soft Light/Broad Light.

The SL3501 kit consists of 4 flexible aluminum (approximately 3 ¾ ” L x 2 ¼” W) frames, coated on one side with high temperature self stick adhesive, which supports the application of the gel/diffusion material to the frame. The kit also contains one each (5” x 4”) sheet of half blue and salmon gel as well as diffusion. Each sheet will yield two 3 ¾” x 2 ¼” pieces of gels/diffusion material.

Anyone wielding a video camera knows it is essential to be properly equipped for any lighting situation when on location. Gels can correct for a wide variety of lighting challenges. From fluorescent/daylight balance or to enhance darker or blotchy skin tones to just needing a little softer more diffused effect. The SL3501 kit has a gel/filter/combination to properly illuminate the situation.

The frame/holder will slide either directly into the receiving slots on the hood of the SL3000 or if the SL3000 is being used as a broad light without the hood, the frame can be held in place by the same screws that would have held the hood in place. The concept is simple and easy to apply, now so are gels and diffusion to the SL3000. The basic design of this product adds emphasis to Cool-Lux’s focus on lightweight and portable professional lighting equipment and accessories designed to save time and money.

The SL3501 is a great value at $29.00 list price and a necessity for anyone who owns an SL3000 Mini-Combo Light.

Pinnacle Pro-ONE 2.0 and Pinnacle Pro-ONE RTDV Announced

Wednesday, July 31st, 2002

Reprinted from a Pinnacle press release:

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Pinnacle Systems, Inc. announced today Pinnacle Pro-ONE 2.0 and Pinnacle Pro-ONE RTDV — two advanced real-time DV editing and authoring solutions. Pro-ONE 2.0 significantly extends the capabilities of the current Pro-ONE product through enhanced software to enable automatic scene detection, motion tracking, advanced color correction, lens flares, faster MPEG encoding, and editing of MPEG video. Pro-ONE RTDV includes all the capabilities of Pro-ONE 2.0 and adds the ability to output timelines to a DV camcorder or a DV deck in real-time — without any rendering.

“I’ve been using Pinnacle editing solutions to produce documentaries and travelogues for three years,” said Gary Gillam, a 20-year veteran in the video industry and owner of Richmond, VA-based G2 Productions. “The ability to output 2-D and 3-D transitions, composites of multiple layers of digital video, 3-D effects and text in real time means no more waiting. As an independent film producer, time is money; and Pro-ONE RTDV makes me instantly more productive.”

With the improved workflow that Pro-ONE RTDV offers, businesses and professional videographers, corporate video producers, event videographers, and multimedia artists have the ability to substantially reduce project completion schedules or simply spend more time exploring their creativity.

“We’ve extended the real-time capabilities of the Pro-ONE so that the professional video editor can be so much more creative and productive,” said Bill Loesch, vice president of product management and engineering for Pinnacle Systems’ Business & Consumer Division said. For example, now you can have a lens flare, title, or graphic track a moving object within a video clip by using the motion tracker filter; see the result in real-time; and output the result in real-time to DV tape without having to render.”
