The 7th annual Great Lakes Film Association Scriptwriting Competition has officially opened its Call for Entries and will accept submissions internationally of short and feature length screenplays, stage plays, and teleplays of all genres and niches including documentary, horror, experimental, Religious/Spiritual, animation and Gay/Lesbian for the 2008 competition. The 2008 Great Lakes Film Association Scriptwriting Competition will accept all forms of religious, Christian, and spiritual scripts including African, African American, Gay/Lesbian, Black, Hispanic, Islamic, Latino and Native/Aboriginal from the United States and around the world.

The Festival VidéEau invites young people aged from 17 to 30, to submit 90 second or shorter video clips on the theme "Water, People and Sustainable Development". The winners of the competition will be announced at a prize-giving ceremony to be held during the World Youth Congress, taking place in Quebec City, Canada, from 10 to 21 August 2008. The Bridgestone Firestone 2008 Safety Scholars Video Contest was officially launched today at the 100th Chicago Auto Show. The 2008 Safety Scholars winners will enjoy the opportunity to have their short films broadcast as an auto safety commercial. We shoot the first 'chapter' in a story. You (the users) are then to shoot the following chapters, each one continuing the story started by chapter 1, or the 'rootclip' (clever, I know). The user community votes on the submissions and every 2 weeks a new chapter contest begins. There are 4 chapters that are open to the public, with the 6th and final chapter acting like a 'finals' of sorts. The chapter 2,3,4 and 5 winners are the only ones eligible to submit a video for the final scene, which will be chapter 6 and take home the grand prize. We've upped the prizes too. The chapter winners (bi-weekly) receive a $500 VISA gift card, and the 'final scene' winner gets the pleasure of meeting Michael Moore. Yes THAT Michael Moore, and it will be at the Traverse City Film Festival in Traverse City, MI August 1-3. We cover flight, room and food, so just bring your pretty face and a friend.
