Well, there are a couple of things that I would suggest. Make sure you go with a company that is committed to their turn times. The industry is know for missing deadlines. Also, may replicators have added costs once you read the fine print, literature and website often give base pricing and the add ons come after you are half way through the order process.

I Agree with burnsmart, all in one print and duplication systems do not seem to work very well. After 6 years of experience in the disc duplication industry, we have found that a stand alone printer and a stand alone duplicator has been the most trouble free solution. Many of our competitors also employ the same......

I hope this is useful.

Many people ask me the same question: "I purchased videos on iTunes, but I can't play them on my video player, because they are in some 'protected' M4V format that only works on iPods. How can I convert iTunes videos to MPEG or WMV format so I can play them on My portable video device such as Archos and Creative Zen?"

I searched on Google, Yahoo answers and post the question on large number of forums, unfortunately, after scouring the Web for days, I couldn't find a FREE way to convert M4V to MPEG, WMV or AVI format.

Then I tried to burn the iTunes video onto a DVD and re-import it into iTunes just like how to remove the protection from the iTunes audios (M4P) by burning it onto a CD and re-import it as mp3. I failed, cause iTunes doesnt have a DVD burning option, then I used Nero, but it still doesnt work as Nero doesnt supports M4V format.

And finally, a software solution. I came across a few kinds of converters on Google search, they are Tunebite, Daniusoft and Noteburner. When I was testing the free trials one by one, what makes me comfortable is the Daniusoft media converter .

Daniusoft Media Converter software can remove DRM from protected wmv, wma, m4p, m4v, m4a, aac files that purchased and downloaded from online music store and convert to general video and audio formats, you can enjoy playing on portable media players, such as iPod, Zune, Creative Zen, MP3 player, PSP.

Stpe 1: Download and install the DRM Removal Tool

Stpe 2: Run the software and click Add.. button to load WMA or M4A, M4B, AAC, WMV, M4P, M4V, ASF files

Step 3: Choose output formats. If you want to convert protected audio files, please select Convert audio to list; If you want to convert protected video files, please select Convert video to list.
Stpe 4: Start remove DRM and convert your DRM protected music and videos by click on Start button.
Tips:
You can click Settings button to custom preference for output files.

If you still want to watch other common video/audio even HD video on your portable video device you can choose Daniusoft Media Converter Pro because Daniusoft Media Converter only support DRM audio and DRM video.

I'm not a fan of the all in one CD DVD disc publishers like the Primera Bravo II, Bravo Pro, or any other publisher unit. These units jam too easily and are a real pain in the %@$@. The Microboards units are no better, those units also jam all the time.

If you are doing a decent amount of discs, it's best to purchase an automated printer and a manual tower duplicator. Do a search for "dvd duplicator" on google. You'll find several companies that sell tower duplicators. Don't waste your money on a aleratec duplicator. Basically the same thing except you are paying double the price.

CD DVD Duplicators will make an exact copy of any non-copy protected DVD. So to answer your question, yes, those duplicators do make a true dvd with a menu. Some duplicators have an option firewire and/or usb contection. What this basically does is lets you use one of the drives on the tower duplicator as an external drive. You cannot go directly from your computer to all the drives on the duplicator (only to the drive(s) that have a usb connection). To duplicate multiple discs at one time, you would need to first create a master disc.

I have used several different CD DVD publisher systems including those from Primera and Microboards. You don't really have an issue with ink transferring onto discs on top/bottom. However, you need to becareful not to print to close to the center hub. If you set the printer to print to close to the hub, ink gets on the plastic hub and doesn't dry for a long time. If you start duplication or playing of the discs while the center hub is still wet, you get a "spin art" effect.

ralck,

Thanks for the reply. I think I agree with the slight paranoia of waiting a little longer. I just happened to read a little bit about the disc publishing all in one units and wondered if I was being over protective. And most of my projects go into cases as well. This one however was an order for 100 discs in paper sleeves. I don't know if you use any protective coating but I have been using the CD/DVD Guard spray and I love it. Before using it I had a dry disc smear due to wet fingers. I now use this spray and they are water proof. You never know, you may have to tape aquaman's wedding. Now I am covered. :)

I don't own one of those systems you talk about, but I have a fairly similar workflow to yours.

I print on Verbatim hub printable discs with my Epson printer. I get great results and have done a few quick tests. The ink seems to dry very rapidly on the disc so it doesn't rub off on a disc put right on top. However, I still let my discs dry for about 24 hours before stacking them or trying to play them just because I'm paranoid :-P. Actually, since I'm usually putting them into DVD cases, I generally stick them in the DVD case and leave it open over night.

I'm not positive about this, but I think they recomend you wait 24 hours to guarantee the ink is dry (since they don't know how humid your area is, etc). If it wasn't completely dry and you tried to read it, the disc could warm up from spinning and the laser and the ink could get all over the insides of your DVD drive. That's just my guess- I don't have any data to back that up.

So in any case I think you'd be fine stacking them up, but if you're worried about it, why not just leave them out to try before stacking? It certainly can't hurt :-P.

I have had a few large runs lately (2 @ 100 DVD's each). I burn them and print them one at a time on my Epson and let them dry before stacking. I use RiData Hub Printable DVD's and print on the entire surface. I have noticed that the automated systems like the primera bravo print large runs on the same media but it stacks them when it is done. Are the DVD's built to stack when printed and not transfer ink to the disc on top? Is this only possible with DVD's that are not hub-printable?

I would love to hear from a primera (or other disc publisher system) user to hear about the process. I also get a message when I print from edge to edge that I should let it dry for 24 hours before playing it, is there any need for that?

Thanks for your time.

I recently saw an interesting post on a forum about how to make DVD by burning movies of different formats to a DVD. That would allow you to view the videos on your own home DVD player and TV. As a movie fans, I have a large collection of movies on my hard disk. But as my collection becomes larger and larger, here comes the problem: these movies occupy too many hard disk spaces that I don’t have enough places to store other important data. So make a backup of these movies becomes a pretty urgent task. So I had to either buy a larger hard disk, or burn these video files to DVD for backup. Burning them to DVD seems to be more practical for me. Following I’ll show you how to make DVD and burn video files to DVD, let's get on with it.The problems to merge video files to DVDDifferent formats. Actually I want to put my three loved movies in one DVD5 disc. “Leon”, “The fifth element” and “The big blue”, the three are all directed by my favorite Luc Besson. But the problem is the three movies are of different formats: AVI, MP4, and DivX (Many may have this problem). Then how do I put three totally different format video files to DVD disc together?File size. I have a 4.7GB disc at hand, but the capacity of the three files seems to be a little bit larger. Then how do I compress them to fit a 4.7GB disc well? DVD menu. As the three movies will be burned to one disc, so a simple menu seems to be necessary. In this way I can watch the three movies from the menu whenever I want. DVD Creator. The best solution for me is to use a single program which could decode the videos, compress them to fit on a DVD-5 and burn the video files to DVD with no additional help of other programs. Surely, it must be easy enough and can do all these things for me. The solution to create DVDHere I got a program called ImTOO DVD Creator. Actually there’re many similar tools, so it doesn't matter which DVD burning program you use to burn DVDs - all will work. However, some may be faster or easier to understand for you. I choose it just because it’s simple but enough to meet all my demands, and stable. Here is the solution to the above problems.Different formats: I found I actually don’t need to worry about the video formats. The input video formats supported are more than AVI, MP4, and DivX I mentioned above. Different video format files can be fitted on one disc with no additional effort. File size: Pity, this DVD creator cannot compress videos. However, after I use its video edit function to cut off the unwanted parts, I can fit the three video files to DVD disc with only 4.7GB volume. If they’re still too large to fit one 4.7GB disc, you may have to use a video converter or something to compress them to an appropriate size. DVD menu: Several menu templates are provided to create a simple menu. And of course, the template can be edited to make it be your own.DVD Creator: ImTOO DVD Creator is basically satisfying, as it’s pretty simple and fast to burn different video files to DVD. Okay, let’s start burning.1. Add the three movies into the program. The bar at the bottom shows me the whole capacity of my movies.2. Insert a blank disc and select it as destination. (If you insert a rewritable disc with data, this program can erase the disc data if you need.)3. Choose a menu template to create a menu automatically. If you need something special, you can change the background picture, add a song as the background music, and enter some text as the menu topic. For example, I entered “Luc Besson” here.4. Select D5 (4.7G) as the target disc format in the left-bottom list. Here I find that the bottom bar shows the capacity of all my movies has exceeded 4.7GB a little bit. 5. Select a file, and click ”Edit” button below the file list to open “Video Edit” window, and set the start and end time to retain the very part I want with ads, trailer and intros removed. Now the total file size fits the disc fairly well.6. Okay, everything is ready now. Click “Start Burn”, and have a cup of coffee. After some waiting, take your DVD out. That’s my way how to make DVD and burn video files to DVD. It became so easy with such a smart and powerful application.

Personally, I have used Handbrake http://handbrake.fr/ (PC and Mac) to convert DVD video to an iPod-friendly format. I've also used MPEG Streamclip http://www.squared5.com/ (PC and Mac) to convert other videos to a web-friendly format. These programs offer a lot of options, these were just two examples of what I used them for. Check out their websites to see what all they offer.

I use Adobe 4.0 on a regular basis.

1. General rule of thumb: one hour of files equals 4G You need three times that amount of space to process. Thus you need at least 36G available and Adobe will not handle this.

2. Never exceed an hour in a project if you can help it. I recently did a file with 1400 clips and text entries and it came in at 52 min. and 3G. Keep it simple.

3. Whenever you go to burn, do not 7unckeck the Available space arrow. The entry underneath will tell you how much space you need. If it is over 4G for single layer or 8G for double, it will not proces.

I own a small video production company that does event videography, training videos, and web advertisements. I do all my editing on the HP HDX using Vegas Pro 8 and Architect 5.0. It is a laptop in name only - 20 inch screen, 4gig ram, duo core 2.4 processors, (2) 160 gig drives and a dual layer, dual format, (lightscribe -worthless) burner. This might be more than you need, but you certainly won't be disappointed. Here is the cnet review http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-hdx/4505-3121_7-32442902.html?tag=vid.1&autoplay=true

I think you are right, Because its kind of a hassle working with VHS. Right now im working on a project. i've come down to my last 5 tapes. And this one tape has a bug, it won't let me record past two hours. No matter how hard i try it won't let me. I've tried everything and waisted 6 light scribed disks and 14 hours of time for the machines to work on it. thats 14 hours that could be spent sucessfully converting VHS. Yet this is where the Hard drive part of it comes into play. I guess i could just record it to the hard drive so the system sees how long it is. Thus NOT stopping at the 2 hour mark.

I did a quick look up of that, and it does aparently have a built-in TBC, but it doesn't say if it's a true full frame one or not (my guess is not). I'm also not seeing if this is a true SVHS deck...

It seems like a high quality unit for someone converting VHS in their home, but for a pro I would think a dedicated proc amp and full frame TBC. I could be wrong though... I've only dabbled in this stuff myself and never had to deal with any old, worn out VHS tapes.

Hi, I wanted to to show everybody an Amazing way to convert VHS to DVD. I use a machine called the Panasonic DMR-EH75V. Its an amazing system and it works like heck. It records Progressive scan and is completely customizable. It also has an HDMI output. The thing is also a DVR. So you can record tapes, DVD's, and live TV to the DVR then do anything you want with it. Like put it on a VHS (not recommended for "state of the art people") And slap it on a DVD. By the way You can creat menus and Edit out commercials for things recorded from the tv. It also has an S VIDEO in and out, RCA inputs and a four prong IEED (firewire) input for recording directly to DVD.

One bad thing, It costs around $300. But if you do full time videomaking for money it will pay for itself. You can also get it off ebay for mondo cheap prices. I recomend getting as many as possible for faster burning, because it is real time and you need to wait for the tape to play all the way through. I like to set up a little studio with multiple copiers lined up with cheap, small tv's or monitors on top of them.

What do you guys think of this? Do you think its worth it? if anyone owns one tell us about it?
