The Vidcast is Great I tune in every week to see the new tips and tricks. But...

I have a few suggestions: You need more Tricks, it seems to be repeating episodes, things like how to light this or that, how to present yourself or others at the camera, how to increase quality, what this means, what that is, and just some how to, and whats whats. Kinda Give us something we can use, not stuff that "might" be useful. Im not saying (well really writing) that you dont do that, but you just need to have more, make it more "full" I guess.

Hello,

I really enjoy the vidcast.

The information is always helpful; the product reviews, tips and tricks, videos, useful websites, and constructive critiques. The entire Videomaker team is knowledgable, personable and honest.

One of the things I enjoy the most is the complete lack of pretense. The team speaks to the camera like they would address a friend. If a line or something gets flubbed you just keep on going which I admire.

And another thing, I believe that the Videomaker motto is something like "democratize video" or something to that effect. You guys NAIL that!!

You make video accessible, fun, and easy to understand. You demistify the entire video-making process and show that video is no longer the exclusive domain of professionals - and this I believe opens the floodgate for more points of view thus democratizing video.

Outstanding job!

Lastly, if I absolutely have to find one thing to gripe about it might be floor direction. Someone's looking into camera 1 and you cut to the second camera while your talent never readjusts.

Thank you Videomaker.

I just tuned in to this program and I must say IT IS HORRIBLE.

It is about the same level of surpirse as when I bought the "Videomaker Guide to digital video production" book and saw the sample video content. It was horrible too.
I too felt less than inspired by watching the vidcast. If you want to see really popping video, look at the Digital Juice website - They have lots of DJTV segments that are really well done!

Just my opinion.

Would it be possible to add some rim lighting to your hosts? That would add some nice flair and dimension to the image, in my opinion.
Otherwise, keep up the good work, and thank you for producing a free, interesting vidcast.

Hello,

Videomaker Presents has been a great production, and is an interesting vidcast.

I was thinking though, can you build a more engaging set?

The set, in my opinion, would be much more interesting with various production equipment in the background, including somewhat exotic cameras, lights, and other video production related equipment or props that you guys have. I know it would look a bit cooler with that JVC GY-HD200 Videomaker recently reviewed! :)

We switched the streaming version of the Vidcast over to Flash. If you'd rather be able to watch full-screen, subscribe to the RSS feed for the high-res version with your favorite aggregator (iTunes, Juice, Democracy, etc.): http://www.videomaker.com/vidcast/rss/high

The high-quality MP4 will yield significantly higher-quality video and audio compared to the WMV streams we had running anyhow.
We hope you continue to enjoy the Vidcast!

I used to be able to watch the vidcasts in full screen; but no more! :'( A couple days ago, things changed.
Now when I click on one of the vidcast segments, a window pops up (approx 640xx480), with no way to enlarge it. Within this window is a credit-card-sized video presentation window, which can no longer be made full screen. Wha hoppen? :?
Hi Matt,

Thanks for the feedback. You do make a lot of valid points. There have been some changes in the works for a little while now, both in production and in post that should ramp up the quality of the vidcasts dramatically.

The vidcast was initally started as a test run, and has just now started finding its legs so to speak. So stay tuned.

Valid, well written criticism, such as yours is always welcome here in the forums, I really appreciate you taking time to comment.

Also if you have any more comments please think about filling out our vidcast survey:
http://survey.videomaker.com/phpESP/public/survey.php?name=Vidcast_page_2006_survey
The results from this survey are our main tool in planing and improving the vidcast.

Thanks,

I have been subscribing to Videomaker for a while now and find the articles and advice to be very good, but I have to say that I have been less than impressed by the quality I've seen come from your "Videomaker Presents" vidcast.

As the adage goes, you should "practice what you preach" and if you are practicing what you preach, then I'm not so sure that the practices you are using are achieving the best results.

I think more than anything it's the post production, but I'm not sure (I'm not the pro, after all). The resulting video that I downloaded through iTunes has very little contrast and almost no color saturation, plus it looks almost blurry (in normal display, not full-screen). It's surprising to me as I'm thinking you are probably using some pretty good cameras, plus the file size is still 240MB for this seemingly lower quality video.

I understand that the file format is mpeg4, however, I've definitely seen videos of the same format with higher visible quality than your vidcasts seem to have.

Anyhow, I appreciate what you do and still really like the magazine, but I'm hopeful that you'll look into improving the visible quality and teaching us, your viewers, how to achieve high video quality--even when its a download.

Thanks.

-Matt
