Hi, I´ve tried the Main concept and didn´t work, maybe because apparently Sony(which I´m using) has got its own AVCHD format, works flawlessly in Vegas. Anyway premiere CS4 does support it,good luck !

Jirka,

Two questions:

1-which Adobe software are you trying to import into?

2-Are you trying to get files from a playable dvd (one that can play in a dvd player) or from a data dvd.

If they are data then you should just be able to copy the files to your hard drive and then just import them.

I have done this in Sony's Vegas (I did it in version six but this works in all). Most NLE's should be able to handle this.

You use a technique called rotoscoping which is described above for AE. It is a time consuming process (you probably don't need masks for all frames but you will for a number of them - figure an average of about 7 or 8 per second which comes out to every three or four frames for NTSC). I have done this and it really is simple but tedious.

If you have already filmed your footage, and don't mind taking a good amount of time, you can accomplish this effect using AE. Create an adjustment layer, desaturate, then make a mask over your person. The background will have no color, while everything in your mask will be unaffected.

However, the greenscreen way will save you lots of time and frustration.

Sounds like a job for chromakey. Shoot your subject in front of a green screen. In post production, use your editor's chromakey function to add a black&white image to the background.

My problem seems to be only when I try to convert a project to a Windows Media File. I use the 2 pass VBR method. I get an error the Audio encoding failed and am told to try one pass or CBR (Constant Bit Rate). I try this but get the same message. I first encountered this issue a year ago and found the fix online but thought it was a one time issue so I did not record how I fixed it and now I have forgotten what I did to fix it. Adobe says they will no longer support Premiere Pro 2 and promptly ended the techsupport. Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

It's called a First Play DVD, it can be set to just play through once or to loop, and the answer is you can't.

You can't create a DVD directly from Premiere Pro CS3. You used to be able to do it in CS2 but they got rid of Premiere's ability to make DVDs when they started bundling Encore with in in the CS3 release. To do it now you have to jump into Encore.

1: Choose File>Export>Export to Encore

2: In the dialog box that pops up you chan choose to make a first play dvd with no menus.

3: When you export it, the project with render out and then open Encore DVD. In Encore click on the build menu to choose the options and create your DVD.

In terms of the beta to which you are referring...

...simply stated, it usually refers to pre-commercial release software that companies offer for download and testing by potential consumers such as yourself. All the bugs have not been worked out of the software, and many of these companies depend on feedback from those who download the software and run into problems using it. The company then takes this feedback and supposedly corrects bugs, or fixes/improves elements before the final release.

Sometimes companies simply do a commercial release KNOWING there will be bugs and issues, then when the complaints start rolling in they do various fixes, usually available for download, along the way. Or pull it and start all over. I am Mac centric, but in reading stuff I understand VISTA had/has some issues along the way, to the extent that some people even went back an operating system generation until things with VISTA settled (they hoped) out.

Hi All:

I'm very new to this and I apolize in advance if I'm posting in the wrong forum.

My goal is to create a short video sequence for a friend's birthday that is a mock sports interview. I would like to make it look like the typical sports interview when a player or coach is interviewed and is seated behind a desk/table etc.

I'm looking for some guidance in trying to achieve this. I was thinking thaat doing via a Chroma Key and using Ultra may be the way to go? Are there any backgrounds or sets that I might be able to obtain to help make this happen. I have only toyed with Ultra once or twice and have limited sucess. My budget it also virtually non-existant.

While I would like the production to be as good as possible, it will only be aired for family and friends so I guess the highest production / quality is not most required.

Thanks in advance.......

I am editing a music video where we shot a good deal of it with the audio mix sped up 100% and then filmed the band at 60 FPS, so that when played back they have that surreal, "singing and playing in real time but looks kinda slowish" feel. It's been done a billion times and I know you know what I'm talking about.

At any rate, when I right click on the clips in the timeline and choose "Speed/Duration", then drop it to 50% (with the Frame Blend option checked), it plays in the source windows at a nice, smooth speed. But, when I render the clips out, suddenly they playback WORSE, containing jerky motion and it's not at all smooth anymore.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I've tried checking off Frame Blend as well but it still looks the same; clunky when rendered. I think it's odd that it plays back so smoothly when not rendered (I'm assuming my vidcard is responsible for the video playback of unrendered clips?). Here's some critical data that might help you come up with a solution:

Shot On: Panasonic DVC PRO HD Camera w/ Red Rock Lens
Editing: Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 (licensed)
Editing Mode: P2 720p 60Hz DVCPROHD
Frame Size: 960 x 720 (16:9)
Timebase: 23.976 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.33)
Display Format: 24 fps timecode

Yes, the trial version disables the HD presets, but you can create a custom preset that will allow you to edit HD footage.

Select new project and select the "custom settings" tab and set the "editing mode" to desktop. This will then allow you to set the frame size to whatever you want (eg.1280x720)

You will need to have an undestanding of the codecs and pixel aspect ratios used for HD since using premiere in this way is completely manual, but allows for better control.

You may have problems with playback of uncompressed HD AVI's depending on your computer, and you may even have to reconvert files to a different format after they have been exported from premiere in order to use them....so, I would recommend using Adobe Media Ecoder that can be accessed within premiere. This encoder will give you options for only Flash, real media, quicktime and windows media; all of witch have settings for HD export.

Good Luck

You may jsut have to use another program to capture the footage than edit in Premiere....

Hi everyone,

We are new to both Video and Flash and been working on a huge project for our "paygrade" we have worked through so many kinks and we are really stuck at our last problem before we are ready to launch the website. Any help from the Video Gods, would be grealty appreciated. We have created a educational website for Mortgage Professionals, so they should have a fair to decent computer and internet speeds, We are going to make quite a few of them, 40+, most will be 2-3 minuted long, talking heads, low motion and screen capture, with a few larger 6-9 minutes with few more effects, but nothing high motion. We are trying to find the optimal blend between file size and quality and quite frankly getting our heads handed to us( I have such a respect for you professionals, video is insanely complex).

You can see the website at www.AdvancedMortgagePlanning.org,
- For an example of a smaller video go Gratitude, then Loan Tool Box
- For an example of a larger video go Discover AMPp, the main video will play

The set up we have is:
FMS server to stream videos,
Connections:10
Bandwidth: 1mpbs
BW Transfer: 30 GB

Camera: Sony HVR-A1U,
Footage Captured DV 4:3 720x480, 29.97,
Exported using Veescope Live, 4:3 to .mov

Flash 8 Custom Video Player, using a net-stream connection

Editing Premiere Pro CS3 exporting to various settings: This one are we could use some big help, we are getting crushed in what size to make the videos, for many we are fine with 320x240, but some of the more"important" we would like to be larger, 480x360 or 720x480 if possible, but keeping the bit rate down makes them grainy, is there some adjustment we can make in our settings to get a optimized solution? Would it be better to set up the Premiere file at the ratio we are going to export it at i.e. base video 720x480 to, premiere file 320x480- export 320x480, or is it better to make the premiere file the same as the source and export to the smaller?
Format :FLV
On2 Vp6
480x360
29.97
Bit rate 512
Deinterlaced

Challenges
1. One of the problems is that the some of the videos, play all the way through, and some stop inexplicably and some play all the way through:
One that stops is
- For an example of a smaller video go Gratitude, then Gratitude Opening
One that plays all the way through
- For an example of a smaller video go Gratitude, then Mortgage Market Guide
We cannot tell if this is a problem with the source or the video player, we play the source files in real player, and flash and they play all the way through, yet we cannot discover any settings in the player that solve the problem of the stopping.
2. The larger video stops playing inexplicably at minute 5:57 of 9:37:
Again it plays all the way through in Real player & Flash

In Deep Gratitude,

Most sofware has an 18 month update cycle. From Windows, Apple, Adobe, and most other major products. The 18 month cycles give you enough time to absorb, use, and then get new hardware to take advantage of new software. I am a computer programmer, and write code for web video. While hardware is built to last, software is an unending cycle of new products built to take advantage of faster processors, larger drives, and more memory. If the last version came out last January, this one is late. By a few months. You can expect the next version of CS to probably come out 18 months from October, be approximate and say June 2010. Or be way conservative, and say December 2010. Windows Vista was just put out, and they're going to put up some betas of the next operating system 7 soon. Mac osX 10.4 was released April 2005, osX 10.5 was released October2007. About December 2009 should be 10.6 for the mac.

We complain because we have to pay for it, you can skip a cycle and not pay for it. Then that just means you get all the added productivity during the next purchase you make. Or download. CS3 was tough, because it came out just around when osX and Vista came out, and a bunch of things just didn't work until updates were rolled. out.

You can already model in 3d using Illustrator, flash animates the 3d, but you still need the human touch to program flash websites. It was all possible in cs3.

Good grief!

Didn't all the CS3 programs come out just this last January? Looks like I was wise to not buy any CS3.

At this rate, I can't wait for CS8! Maybe it will all be one big program simply called "Adobe" that can edit video, create motion graphics, burn DVDs, edit photos, program Flash websites...maybe even model and animate in 3D!

LOL
