Ultimately, it is both cheaper and faster to simply purchase a 1x1, 1x3 or higher DVD/CD duplicator, many of them with hard disks to store your DVD contents. Then, instead of tying up your computer to utilize its disc burning capabilities, you pop the original master into your duplicator, insert a blank or two or three, or...

...hit record and voila! Done in a matter of minutes. Duplicators start at a few hundred bucks and can be had in the 1x7 range for less than $700 - great investment for anyone who needs to make duplicates of their productions or lots of copies for their work once, sell many productions.

In DVD Studio Pro...it's a little weird how they set it up. You press the burn button if you want it to build and burn... dont ask me why, it's kinda strange. If you have chosen the file that you would like the project to save in... you can use the FORMAT option to just burn the disk. This will take what you have already built and place it on the disk without having to rebuild.

Interesting... If you exported it on to the wrong format, something other than MP2, it may be posable that when DVD Studio converted the file to MP2 it glitched. Don't know that that would happen though. Did you try and drag the file in to DVD studio and see if it happened the same way again?

Try exporting using Compressor. Export the video to mp2 and the Audio to the Dolby format and see if that works better for you.

Is there anyone out there that uses DVD Studio Pro 4 without problems viewing on LCD PAL TV. When using the templates both the text and stills are grainy or pixelated. As a test I created a movie and stills in FCP imported them into DVDSP, the movie quality superb, the text and stills for the menus - rubbish. I then used the same content in iDVD - perfect menus. It is really annoying when you invest in Pro software and the results aren't as good as you get with a freebie!
Is there something obvious I am doing wrong? Or is it that Apple is basically NTCS and I am on PAL in the UK?

I spent a couple weeks editing a wedding in Final Cut Pro and it was flawless by the time I exported it. The exported movie played fine in Quicktime with no problems. However, after I imported the quicktime movie into DVD Studio Pro, it played back with at least five or six brief pauses throughout the movie. I went ahead and burned the DVD, thinking it would play O.K. after the format/burn. But the DVD plays the same way! What could possibly cause it to do this? I'm at a total loss as to what to do to fix this!

Why is it that a movie created in Final Cut Pro, authored in iDVD, is much brighter when burned to disc played on a domestic DVD player and viewed on a LCD TV than the same movie viewed on the same TV but used as a monitor direct from the Final Cut project?

Is the extra brightness just the way it is when 'Burning" to DVD or am I doing something wrong?

I'm using Compressor 2, and trying to generate an AC3 Dolby 5.1 file that will work on both surround sound and 2-speaker setups. I've configured my Downmix controls so that the Center Downmix is at -6db and the Surround Downmix is at -infinity. Yet when I play the resulting DVD on every 2-speaker-system set-up I have--DVD Player on my Mac, the DVD/TV setup in my bedroom, even in Compressor itself--the surround track is distinctly playing at full-volume, when--by setting it to minus infinity--it shouldn't be playing at all during the downmix.

Any ideas as to what's going wrong here?

Please...desperate for an answer!

I have had trouble with this in the past as well. I have found that none of the FC Studios applications accept MPEG very readily. Since that is what the DVD standard is, DVD studio seems to not be able to recognize the audio line. The same way Final Cut won't read the audio in MPEG.

Personally, I just export the video from FCP to an uncompressed or DV format (one that has little quality loss) and just set DVD Studio to compress the files as I input them into the project. Once they are imported in the asset box, you will see a progress bar begin for each video and audio line.

You can set the Bit rate for what ever you want the default project bit rate to be. Then you can change each individual file once the are imported by Ctrl Clicking (right clicking) on the file and choosing render setting (<- I think that's what it is called).

To be safe, Always try to set the Max bit rate to no more than 7.2 and the min I usually set at 5.

Hope this helps.

Depending on the program, there should be an option to save to a .iso file, dvd folder, dvd image, or something along those lines. Ive also seen options like save copy to hard drive, safe mode burning, etc... It will then put your finished project as an exzact copy on your hard drive. Then when you want to burn it, you should be able to select, burn previously saved movie or something close to that and burn with out waiting for it to make your movie again.

Or you can use a cd/ dvd recording program like Nero. If you saved it as an .iso file or .img file you select burn image file, and select the previously made file. If you save it as a dvd folder (like it has a video_ts folder) you just select to burn dvd video, and drag all the files in the video-ts folder to the video-ts folder in your recording program.

Okay, here's my dilemma...

After I finish creating the project I choose to build it and burn it. The first time I do this, it takes between 20-45 minutes (depending of setting) to build the project. Then it burns it in about 5-10 minutes.

But when I want to burn a second copy, it goes through the entire building and rendering process again, even though all I did was choose BURN.

Trial and erron, DVine, trial and error. This type of error is very generic. I had this happen once and couldn't figure it out myself. I can't remember how I fixed it. Most people who experience this problem have to re-examine all their assets to make sure they're the proper format. If you scripting or programming anything (as in looping a motion background) make sure you haven't made any errors there. Sorry I can't be of more help, but it's a very vague error to begin with. Good luck.
