Here is the patch i spoke about;

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/au/en/Content/1157481830100?pid=1229440480826

This fixes alot of things in Corel but I had to go into "file" to retrieve my AVCHD clips and could not use the regular panel......have not tried it yet with patch though.

ok rob - I'm there. I removed the imagemixer program and copied the clips staright from the camera hard drive and they were copied from a file called AVCHD but deeper on a file called STREAMS. So they are all on my pc now but wont play still. When i click on them the wmp window pops up and is blank so I'm guessing conversion is my next step?

Also my Corel still will not recognise the clips in their current form when i do a search for digital files I go to where they are but they are invisible? I only copied the clips off the camera but not all of the other files that were confusing?

My Canon stores the movie clips in a folder called AVCHD. It's this folder that Corel recognizes. It also folder contains other files besides the clips that may be important. See if you have a similar folder.

thanks, I have a program that came with the camera but do not like it and want to bypass it. I tried to load the images onto my pc before installing the program but you could not play them when they turned up and so I guess i need to conver them.

you say that Corel will pick them up but if i cant play them after transferring them straight form the camera then will Corel be able to retrieve them from the file?

My own experience may be relevant here. I use a Canon Vixia HF11 that records to an SD card. I remove this card and copy it to my computer. With Adobe Premier Elements 7.0 I only need to copy the actual movie clips as these can be imported directly into Premier. However with Corel I need to copy the whole AVCHD folder into my computer in order to capture the movie clips in Corel. Hope this helps.

Yes, you should be able to crop in VideoStudio X2. Let me see if I can find out more, or if someone beats me to it. Also, if the most interesting part of your scene is moving off the cropped area, but remaining inside the 16:9 frame, you should be able to set keyframes and move the cropped area around to perform a pan/scan operation.

However, as someone who tests everything thats out there, these two are some of the most user friendly. So they are good to suggest to nouvices.

Take a look at your version for VSPX2. if it is 12.0.96.0 try installing the update patch found at the web page below. It was to fix a lot of issues like you are describing, some of it around working with vista. Let us know if this doesn't solve it.

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/au/en/Content/1157481830100?pid=1229440480826

Your version should read 12.0.96.1 after the update.

You can also take a look at the corel forum http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewforum.php?f=1 They are extremely helpful with any of the corel product issues and tutorials.

I got to know a previous version of uleads video studio prior to getting pro X2. I always saved my videos using the DV format. I assumed this was the best quality file out of all the options.

Now with Pro X2 there are so many other choices I got to wondering, What is the best quality choice for rendering videos so I can save the finished product on a portable Hard Drive?

I am using Corel Videostudio X2 pro on my laptop with VISTA.

I recently produced two videos that I am having a problem with choppy segments on the final video clip. One video was about 40 minutes long while the other only had a total run time of about 2.5 minutes.

When I have all the clips laid out in the editor things look good with the playback, but then after I render it all together by clicking on share/create video file and select dv 16x9 the final video when viewed on the computer or television on a DVD there are parts that have pretty choppy video.

I did notice that when I put all the files on my portable hard drive and transfer it to my kids laptop with windows XP (using the same version of Corel Videostudio pro X2) it works just fine. Is this simply a VISTA problem?

Thanks

Been using VideoStudio Pro X2 going on 3 months now and cannot seem to find anything on this. I am working on nature videos and wanted to try different audio channels when going to dvd. Allowing the viewer to sellect the channel they want to listen to.
My thought is something along the lines of the different languages that production dvds have. Something like one channel is just ambient sounds. Another has background music over ambient. Maybe a third with commentary.

Ok, the above was posted after dealing with the issue for over a week, finding a work-around to get a project done. And after built up fustation of "fighting" it for almost four hours yesterday to figure out what went wrong. This morning, as I am enjoying a hot shower, it strikes me that I should try following.

(Running Vista here) Dressed and at the computer I travel through the following Start Button options. Control Panel, Programs and Features, find and click the program, Select Repair. After the repair is done, reinstall any updates/addons you might have. All of twenty minutes later my clips and timeline playbacks are running like normal.

Sometimes it is the simple fixes that escape us.

I posted this for those who might, at some point, have a similar, "Well it didn't do tht ysterday.", event with their software.

I have been using Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 for about 3 months now. In the last week or so I have noticed that, whether it's a clip in my library or on my the timeline, playback appears to be about 10X. A 20 second clip "runs" about 2 seconds. You only see the first frame or 3 of the clip then your at the end. This changes if I adjust playback speed to 99% or 101% then it runs at a more normal rate. I am using AVCHD (.mts) files. Same format I have used, that I am aware of, since I started using VideoStudio. After fussing with putting things in the timeline to review it for a while (30 min or so) it seems to "fix" itself and everything runs fine from that point until I close the program.

I can get it to play normal as well if I add a separate audio in the timeline with it. Which is not a problem for the work in progress but trying to run clips from the library so that I can see if its viable for the project just isn't working. I have even played around with the smartproxy settings with no change. Anyone have any ideas what the problem and possible fix might be?

Have you visited Corel (uLead) to see if there are any updates available for your software? I would give that a try first.

Also, my experience with AVCHD is that because of it's compression factor it is very CPU intensive to decode and display realtime in your editor. If updating your PC is an issue, there are several format converters out there that you can use to change your files to a more standard format that will make your editing easier.

I am using Ulead Studio 11.5. It was working fine, we would video tape our church service onto a VHS tape, I would use a capture device and then plug it into the Ulead program and edit with overlays and text. We started using a Panasonic AGHMC 70P with AVCHD onto a 16 gb pg sdhc card. I can capture off the card but when I put the video file into the timeline it will run slow and/or freeze. I have tried to change the settings for HD but cannot get the file to run in the time line so I can edit it. It will run in the library but not the timeline.Â

Now when I am using the old video camera/VHS tape the program will work but will take over 10 hours to burn an hour DVD.

NOTE: Working on a HP Pavillon/triple core processor with 2 or 3 gigs of ram.  My graphics card is reading a score of 3 (windows vista)....can this have anything to do with this problem?

Are we sure the new discs are finalized? A quick test would be to try to add more data to them. If it takes it then they were not.
