In Encore CS3, I create a motion menu button and it plays for 30 seconds. However, it plays the first 30 seconds of the marker, and I want to choose which 30 seconds of the chapter I want to play in the motion menu. How can I do this?

Thanks,

What really makes a difference is the burn speed and brand of media. If you are using cheap DVDs and burning at high speeds they will not be compatible with most DVD players. Use good media and burn at low speeds to ensure compatibility with most players, 8x or slower and Verbatim discs would be a good combination ;)

http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=273

Plus, if you are using Premiere Pro I recommend using Encore to author and burn the DVDs ;)

I'm trying to get a project to work on dvd players but it won't work.. there is a problem with menus

I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0
PAL, 720x576, 25 [fps], Lower, Quality 5.0
48 kHz, 16 bit, Stereo, PCM
CBR, 7.00 [Mbps]
Running Time: 00:39:40:05
A DVD template layout (kindly suppplied by AP Pro), 4 Main menu markers, 22 Scene markers, 1 Stop marker
The project previews fine, the menu works great, looks good etc, I burn the project to dvd using "DVD Layout", "Burn DVD", have followed the tutorial supplied by adobe and so on..
The dvd burns with no errors, however when placed into a dvd player to view, I just get a blank screen with some red lines that can move around like a menu on the screen but pressing enter or anything does nothing. If I stop the dvd then push play, the dvd plays title 1 automatically. I can't access a menu at all, skipping to next title, causes the dvd to stop, it says there are 3 titles there, only title 1 works. I can view the entire dvd, from start to finish (all on title 1, chapter 1).
I have tried both +R and -R dvd's, my burner should use +R but I have read that -R work better on home dvd players which is where the discs will be played.

Anyone with any advice or hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have also thought about using Encore for this but the prem pro wizard seemed simple(? could this be further from the truth?) enough for a small project like this.

give u this guide concerned with DVD menu:

ImTOO DVD Creator - Professional DVD maker to make your own DVD

Life is colorful because of every little casual bit; your creativity will be inspired due to the simplifying usage of the ImTOO DVD Creator. If you are confused with making DVD, why don't have a try on ImTOO DVD Creator? It only needs four steps to burn a DVD video disc. Action speaks louder than speaking. Now let's have a look at the simple but effective usage of ImTOO DVD Creator.

Step 1: download and install ImTOO DVD Creator

Download ImTOO DVD Creator from http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-creator.html and install it. The window for registering will pop up while the tool runs for the first time. After you fill in the correct license code, the software will be usable.

Step 2: add video files

Click the drop-down menu in the left-bottom corner of the chief window, and then select the type for your DVD according to the capacity of the video files (4.7G for D5, 8.5G for D9). Next, click the "Add Video Files" button, and add video files into the pop-up "Open" window. The video files added into the window will be listed in the file-list window, and the real-time capacity of the adding files will be also displayed at the bottom of capacity slot. The capacity slot will turn red while the capacity of files exceeds the limit of the DVD.

Tips:

1, you can select more than one video files located in one directory at the same time by dragging the mouse;

2, In order to add all the video files in a directory, just click "File" -> "Add Video Folder" in the chief window and select the directory in the pop-up "Select Directory" window.

3, Formats of the video files supported by ImTOO DVD Creator include AVI, MP4, H264, WMV, ASF, DAT, VOB, and so on.

Figure 1 add video files into ImTOO DVD Creator

Step 3: set up DVD menus

If there are more than one video files added into the DVD, you should make a menu for selecting video files conveniently while playing. It's very easy that you only need to click the "Template" button at the top-right corner of the chief window, then select a template for your DVD menu in the drop-down menu to make your own DVD smarter.

If the default settings cannot meet your needs, then click "Edit" button and run "Menu Edit" procedures to set up your own DVD menu especially. Firstly, select a mode of menus in the list of the right side, and then select "Background Music" items in the left to set up a background music of your DVD menu; select "Background Picture" items to make your own background images of your DVD menu. In addition, you can set up menu title for your DVD and adjust colors of the title in the "Menu Topic" dialog box.

If you want to get a real-time preview of the settings, just click the "Preview" button during the process of menu setting, which will help you make DVD menus pertinently. Click "OK" button to back to the chief window after you have finished the full process of settings.

Figure 2 make your own DVD menu styles

Step 4: adjust parameters and burn

Click "Tools" -> "Preferences" and adjust the parameters for DVD ripping in the pop-up "Preferences" window. For example, select the mode of television broadcasting in "Video Format"(NTSC or PAL), and select the aspect ration of videos in "Video Aspect Ratio" according to the playing mode of your DVD.

In addition, there are three choices for video quality: "High", "Medium" and "Low", you can choose any one if you like. Click "OK" button to return to the chief window after setting.

Figure 3 adjust parameters of ImTOO DVD Creator

Next, select recorder in the drop-down menu of "Destination" and fill in the name of your DVD disc in "DVD Name", put a blank disc into DVD recorder, then click "Start Burn" button, it will start to burn you DVD immediately. Then after a little while, a quite personalized DVD videodisc will be created.

Figure 4 display window with the progress of the burning status

In addition, let's focus on the resources occupancy of the running software. While the ImTOO DVD Creator is burning DVDs, CPU utilization rate of the DVDCreateor.exe is 0% and its memory usage reaches 53M; while the CPU utilization of the other process avc.exe is 99% and its memory usage reaches 17M. During the process of burning, it is recommended that you should not run other programs so as not to bring about negative impact on the quality of burning. As to the burning speed, ImTOO DVD Creator performs pretty well. It only takes 18 minutes 27 seconds to burn a 3.*G video file.

Overall, ImTOO DVD Creator is a valuable DVD creator. Even someone who knows nothing about computers can make DVD their own due to the simplifying operation. Compared with similar products in market, ImTOO DVD Creator gains much more advantages both in its oversimplified use and its quality of burning.

I am having trouble with menu creation in Encore 2.0. My issue is that when I create the menu and preview it in Encore, it works just fine. However, once I burn the DVD onto a DVD and put it in my DVD player, some of the menu selections are skipped over. I have some working menus that I have no problems with. I even copied them and just replaced the information and it did not work. I created custom menus in Photoshop because I wanted some specific text effects. I have even tried making sure the numbering order is correct in the upper right hand corner.

Any ideas on this could be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!!

I use Pinnacle 10 for editing my videos. Its DVD menu editor is powerful, yet it is not very pleasant to use. I don't recommend it.

Definitely try before you buy. Just about everything has a 30 day trial that you can download.

I will ask you, how do you perform an ISO test?

Open up all 10 movies in MEP. When you have one movie open, and then go to open a second, you'll be asked if you want to close the first movie...just say "no" and continue. Do the same for the remaining 8 movies. Voila, you will have 10 movies open in MEP.

If all of the movies have been rendered to .avi files (i.e. the Magix project files no longer exist to be 'opened') then you can just create 1 new 'movie' and add all 10 avi files to the timeline...with a chapter marker at the start of each avi file.

Then go to make a DVD. If you have 10 movies open you'll now notice that you have ten icons on your DVD menu (or maybe less, but if all ten don't show then there will be a second 'page' to your DVD menu with the remaining movies). If you go the 10 avi files on one timeline then you'll have one icon but can add a sub-menu with 10 chapter markers.

When you are happy with your menu design, chose File & save your menu design so that you can come back later and load/modify it. Next time you come into MEP, to work on the project, return to the disk editor and 'load' the project...MEP will load your menu, as well as all 10 movies. Make your changes and save again.

If you want to edit a single movie...just open that movie and make your changes...no need to have all 10 movies open if you are just

Burn and enjoy.

OK so i'm relaly stuck and thought i'd try out this forum.. hi everyone!

Basically i'll start with a bit of an explanation. My best friend loves making movies of all our parties and meetings etc and i thought that for christmas i'd make (using Magix movie edit pro 2005) a DVD of all his videos all professionaly done so he can watch them on the TV instead of on the computer. I've used this program to make videos before but i've never used the DVD meny bit.

So, i found putting an intro clip and a background image nice and easy. I found the 'DVD Navigation Structure' menu on the right and thought it all seemed straightforward. But then i ran into some trouble.

Basically i want to put a collection of about 10 videos that you can select which one you want to watch first. But i cannot for the life of me work out how to get more than one video! All i can do is make one video that can be selected. I cant work out how to get more than one. For example, i want the menu to show little thumbnails with 'Holiday video, somebodys party, etc. But i can't see an option anywhere for putting in more than one video.

I'm sure there is something really simple but you know what its like when you just can't find it!

Help ASAP!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi Guys,

I tried searching the forums, but the new layout is horrible (and incredibly slow) so I gave up. So instead of seeing if this question has already been asked, I think I'm just going to ask it...

What do you guys use to make DVD menus? I'm looking for a program, preferably free or cheap, that gives me the ability to make DVD menus with my own backgrounds and layout styles and such. I've got my video exported to MPEG-2 so I don't need a program to convert it. Things like the ability to make moving menus would be cool, but not absolutely necessary. The ability to set up my own DVD chapters and also have the ability to set up something like an "extras" page (so I don't just have the main video on the disc, but in fact several other videos) is a feature I really want.

Also, I'm not sure if this an application specific, but I'd like it to be able to export to a DVD iso so I can make an iso and test with that instead of wasting DVD's.

I'm not really sure what goes on with DVD menu programs so I may have left out some key points. Feel free to ask for any more information! Thanks!

P.S. The new forum design needs to change! I vote for going back to the old system that worked!
