A lot of Youtube videos are preceded by the Windows 7 in 7 seconds clips, too. They're pretty funny. You're right, MS can have a sense of humor when it wants to. We'll see.

I ran across this new ad for Microsoft's latest 'Office' offering. After taking a whuppin' from the Mac weenies these last couple of years in the PR department they whipped out this movie trailer that seems to be a combo of the 'Bourne' flicks, '24' and the wackiness from the style of 'Shaun of the Dead'. It's dumb, but funny and shot really well. I'm sure it won't be long before the Mac weenies 'return fire'. Yay.

Thank you. I can convert edited clips using the Sony software to .wmv format which will be accepted by Windows Movie Maker. That is the route I am trying at the moment. It works reasonably well but it is of course long winded. I have got a new computer to handle the video so I know that it OK. I note your suggestions for Movie Studio or Video Studio. I will research them. What I would like is software which will take in the Sony .m2ts format, fine edit the clips and then put them into a story board adding titles and sound as you go. Are Movie Studio and Video Studio capable to handling my requirements?

The Vista editor has to support the filetype to work. That's probably m2ts/AVCHD/MP4. First see what Vista's editor supports then convert your caps if necessary or down-convert the cap in the cam to a compatible file. You'll be forced to save whatever Vista can which is just one reason it's not recommended. Maybe start with a little intro editor like Movie Studio or Video Studio. You'll also need to check if your computer has enough grunt to handle native editing and possibly have to upgrade or buy a new computer.

Help. I have recently started using a Sony HDR-SR12E camcorder. I have down loaded the video using the Sony Picture Motion Browser (PMB) supplied. That is fine for editing but I would like to use Microsoft Video Maker (MVM) which came within MS Vista Home Premium. I am unable to get the video clips into MVM. When trying to import video clips, and clicking on the folder - the folder is empty, yet when you go back to PMB they are there. What am I doing wrong? A very frustrated editor. I am not an expert with computers so please don't make responses too technical. Thank you.

>>>"I have used a product called CAMTASIA, now rev 5 I think - and not free -"

Camtasia is great software to own and is a great tool for all video professionals as well.  It is also recommended for encoding HD/SD delivery file formats like h.264,flv and Mp4.Â

There is a fully functional free trial to see if it's for you....very helpful software to have.

Response to your Q1.

I have used PPT Producer and, while I found it easy to use, I felt it took up a lot of bandwidth etc. It was a probably a good answer at the time (2003). Since then I have used a product called CAMTASIA, now rev 5 I think - and not free - and I found it easy to use and loaded on customer computers much faster.

The other thing you can do is to record your PPT slides using a screen recorder, on PC I use WME9 (free!). I recommend a small screen resolution and don't add audio - leave that for the program you render out in. WME9 will make videos of your slides but is NOT good with fade and disolve transitions.

And yet another alternative is to make your PPT slide show, save screen prints of each slide in a graphics program, and build the slide show in video program.

I have a PPT producer slide show at http://www.bmidd.com/samples/ppp/ttexcerpt.htm . I have no trouble viewing it (other than it takes FOREVER to load) but you may wish to see if it works for you - maybe there is some tweaking you need to do to your web browser.

Looking for help with "Producer for PowerPoint".

This is free software (full name: "Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint 2003") which allows me to sync video with PowerPoint slides.
I use it often to upload WMV videos to our web.
It works well on my PC, but I'm having issues when using it on my iMac (details, below).

Two questions:
1.
Is there ANYTHING out there for sale that does this as well or better?
2.
Does anyone else use this software on the PC-side of their Mac?
If so, have you had any problems...and how did you resolve them?

Details of iMac (PC-side) issue with "Producer":
After dropping in PPT and publishing the presentation, you get a prompt to review the video on Internet Explorer.
When I select to view, the video plays without problem, but the PPT slides are not visable and I get an error message where the slides should be.

Additional info:
iMac used is running Windows XP, and Producer version 2.0.1Â
