Hi Van-isle,

Both TV types SHOULD display your DVD properly.

Most televisions have some form of aspect ratio control feature to accommodate playing a 4:3 image on a 16:9 screen and playing a 16:9 image on a 4:3 screen. And if the television doesn't have such a feature, there is a good chance that the DVD player itself will have it.

In Solidarity,

Alain

Next summer I wiil be going with a large group on a long distance trip. I plan to buy a videocam and make a video of the trip that can be downloaded onto DVD disks. Each member of the trip will get a disk. Since I do not know what type of TV or display they have at home, can one version of the disk play properly on both 16:9 and 4:3 displays? Will an old style 4:3 display play 16:9 format as a letterbox or will it 'squish' it down? Conversely, will a 16:9 display show a 4:3 format correctly?
