It's the default software that when opened will give you a clear indicator that your connection is live if you see the 'controls' for playback, ff, rwd, etc. If you don't see those control buttons, you have no signal. If as you say have your recorder in 'play mode' and the computer still won't recognize your camera, try rebooting with the camera connected and on. If that doesn't work, try attaching a firewire drive to make sure the connection works. If you still get no signal, it's probably the cable. If the computer does recognize the harddrive, it's most likely the camera. On the odd chance none of the above works, it could either be the firewire input on your laptop (worse case) or you may need to update windows (better case.) Yes, I did. It was in the VCR mode, and also played the video, but the laptop still cannot detect the camcorder.  Is there any specific setting? or there is something wrong in my camcorder, laptop or FireWire cable? Please help me figure it out. My laptop is Lenovo ThinkPad T400. I bought a Belkin IEEE 1394 FireWire Cable (4-pin/4-pin) 1.8m. Why it doesn't work when I connect my camcorder to laptop use the 1394 FireWire Cable? I use Premiere to capture the movie. It displays that camera offline. Actually, my laptop didn't have any reflection when it connected to the camcorder. What's going on? Is there anyone can give me any suggestion? Thank you very much.</p>
