Personally, I suspect it would be California that cuts the U.S. loose as this western coastal state has much of the resources necessary to become self-sufficient - outside of fresh water, that is :-)

Wow. You've been the "man in charge" since I started reading. You'll be missed, and the magazine won't be the same without you.

If I had the guts of steel that it takes to work in the magazine business I'd apply. Plus, I have a hunch the US is going to cut their losses and de-annex California soon to keep from your budget deficit killing the rest of us. I don't want to be anywhere near that state when the US cuts ya loose. And if that doesn't happen, you'll probably fall into the ocean any time soon :-)

It's been an interesting three years as Videomaker's
Editor-in-Chief, but I will be moving on at the end of this month.
Looking back at my time at Videomaker I'm very proud of the work our
team put together. It's a challenging time in the print industry, and
because of the nimbleness, dedication, and expertise of our staff,
there's still a print magazine to read, and will be for the foreseeable
future. Our website continues to grow quickly, our Tips and Tricks
videos are very popular, and our forums (that have been online since
1994) have some new life breathed into them. People are still very
passionate about the process of making video, just the media in which
they learn about it, is changing.

It's actually a very exciting time to be a video producer. The
barriers to entry have never been lower. The sheer quality and choices
that videographers have in camcorders and accessories is mind boggling,
compared to when I started my career as an intern here in 1993. And the
most major change is in distribution, where anyone can upload a video
and have an audience of millions.

So it is with a great deal of pride that I etched my name on the
Videomaker mantle. It's a publication that has been going strong since
1985, I read Videomaker before I got into the business, and I'll
continue to read Videomaker after I leave. I hope you found the
articles and videos during my tenure here useful and informative, and
it's been an honor to work with a great editorial staff, and a lot of
fun creating all that content.

This does open up a pretty exciting position now at Videomaker. If
you think you have what it takes to run the editorial department,
create content for print, web, and video, and wouldn't mind living in
the lovely town of Chico, Ca. Why not drop us a resume at jobs@videomaker.com ?
