Commercial Making Technique

   I'm new to making any type of videos. I would like to film a commercial that looks relativel professional and hopefully in HD. I don't want it to look like those local ads you see on TV.

   What equipment would I need to buy or rent? Could I do it with a regular HD Video Camera?
