   Hi
   I have footage of a wedding shot in a large church. There is a terrible echo when the priest is talking using the church sound system. Is there any way in Vegas 4 that I could lessen this?

   you might try playing with the noise gate and see if you can dampen the echo there.

   Try Smooth/Enhance in the effects. Moving the slider toward Smoothing, might help soften the echoes.  Together with the noise gate idea from Johnboy, that should do the trick.
