Hi
Im trying to import a file into Encore DVD 2.0. the import progress bar comes up but then I get,
"the software thats used to decode the media is not available on this system. Installing hte correct decoders fo the files you are working with may help to correct the problem."
what decoders are needed, where do I get them and how do I install them?

It's probably talking about codecs. Most compression schemes are copyrighted and you have to pay to get the codecs to decode them. You can try getting the file in another format or you can figure out which codecs it uses and try to download them.Posted 1 year ago # Login to Send PM

Ive posted a screen shot from ULead Video Studio 8.0. It lists many different re-compression settings.
Which would you use out of these?Posted 1 year ago # Login to Send PM -
Your screen image appears to show that you're working with an AVI file. You can use "no recompression" and just bring the AVI file into Encore, or you can compress to mpeg2, assuming you have the Roxio codecs.Posted 1 year ago # Login to Send PM

It's always a good idea to use Google as your first source of information.
Google "codecs"... you'll get links for free downloads of codecs; the wikipedia explanation of exactly what codecs are and more than you ever wanted to know about codecs!Posted 1 year ago # Login to Send PM -
also saw this warning about malicious codecs - wanted to make sure about their authenticity.

K-Lite Codec Pack is the best source of codecs around. It also comes with Media Player Classic which is incredibly simple and will play virtually anything from AVI to MOV to RMV. I use it and vouch for it's safeness.
