   Could any tell me what the overall quality of the Canon GL1 camera is; compared to, for example, the XL2 or Panasonic DC30.  I need to rent a second camera for a musical that I am doing the videography for.  Are there any problems specific to it that I should be aware of?  I don't want to have the video from the GL2 be sub-quality compared to my camera.  Thanks.

   I had a GL1.  Everytime you put in a new tape,  you need to run about ten seconds of video in it.. (record on it..), then check it.  It had a problem of once in a while not having the tape set correctly.
