I just bought the canon HV30 (hasn't even arrived yet) and I was just wondering if a Rode VideoMic    http://www.amazon.com/Rode-VideoMic-directional-Condenser-microphone/dp/B0007U9SOC
would be compatible with it.

I have the HV20 and that mic works great with it. I am sure the HV30 has the same input jack, so I would say YES. There was a forum posting last week for that mic and a lot of accessories - you may want to check that out.
Yes, it will work fine, and that's a good mic BTW
Excellent mic. I've had mine over a year. Battery life is excellent. The sound quality is awesome. One thing though. Get some extra rubber bands for the shock mounting. They stretch and then you can loose them. When they stretch you can take them off and tie a knot in the middle to shorten them up a bit and get extra life out of them.
Griz
I agree, great mic. I've used it with my canon hg10 for nearly 7 months and i have had no problems. Griz11, the extra rubber bands do come with the mic ( I too bought mine from amazon).
