Web development was my first job, now second to video, but I still spend forty percent of my time on it.
Do you already have a merchant account & payment gateway?

Check out PayLoadz.com. They are connected in some way with PayPal and their specialty is (downloadable) or digital products. You can elect for them to take a percentage of each sale or you can pay a monthly fee.
It's a free signup and from what I can tell it's a great system to use for this purpose. It was suggested to me on another board. Here is a link to that thread: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=339871
How much are you going to charge? That's my delima. I'm going to be selling motocross video footage that I'm shooting but I don't know what a fair price will be. Especially since it's a download instead of a "hardcopy".Posted 2 years ago # Login to Send PM -

PayPal.com offers a shopping cart to your site. You can go as easy as using Wordpress or Blogger platforms to create a storefront.
As for Lulu.com (thanks to RScottyL for the link), they are very good at selling other products. By the way, they sell my book, and it works very well. I did not know they started to offer a storefront for video downloads. It could be the best solution for your need.

LuLu can be a great service IF you are focused on marketing yourself and your products...

I have been looking at the same thing. I want to change a small fee for each download to the owner of the video, and automatically bill the owner every few months. I need code that will detect time, date, and where the viewer came from and how many times he(she)downloaded the video. Then I want to be able to bill through a regular Pay Pal Acct.
I have found a programmer that will do it all for me. The only trouble is the cost, which could amount to several thousand dollars for a complete turnkey operation. I am using Xigla's Absolute TV Channel on a Windows server. The Absolute app is very buggy and I have already spent several hundred dollars on fixing some of its problems. If any of you in other parts of the country are thinking of purchasing this app, maybe we could work together by employing the same programmer and we could lower the cost of getting what we want.
