recording sound to my Sony HVR HD 1000P.

   Hi guy's and gal's, I'm a relative newbie and am looking for sound advice for my Sony entry level cam the HVR HD 1000P. I'm planning to do weddings and live music events and with a friend produce dvd's for gigging bands. Ive already got the evolution g2 100 series with one lav mike but feel this inadequate for covering the music output at the wedding reception. Whats the best set up to go for here. Also when shooting a live gig would we be better using two mike's back into a mixer or a digital audio recordeding device. As far as I'm aware there is only one audio input into my camera and that is taken up by the onboard mike. I realise this question could have been asked before so apoligies if that is the case. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
