I guess becoming a muse for 20 years and then writing/recording/mixing your own music would be asking too much...heh heh...but it sure saves you lots and lots of money when it's time to add it to your video. You also have the added advantage making it fit the mood of your scene exactly.
BUT...as a non-muse, you're probably better off buying some sort of large library (at a discount price of course) and making do.
Here's a free online studio you may be able to use if you have some musical sense... http://www.jamstudio.com
There is also the VIDEOCOPILOT's PRO SCORE!
I have it. I think its $99, and it cones with more than 100+ Musics, and you can also create your own, mixing them.
Heres the link:
Hi, take a look at http://www.cinephonix.com they have a library of hundreds of royalty free tracks. Also, you can email them with your video and a short despcription of the music you're after and they will email back with suggestions. Prices are low and can be flexible if you email them about your specific needs. Hope that helps!
You can try to listen some tracks on Xylote.com (http://www.xylote.com) to see if you find something that you like...
Royalty Free Music and Stock Sounds are the best solution if you want to spend less and have a good product. You only need to find some good services at a good price.
I don't recommends to anyone that has no music skills to buy software and use midi files to make his song. Even those midi files can be copyright protected and however music by professionals will always sound better.
Royalty Free Music will make you save time and money that you can use on something else useful for your projects.
If I suggest someone for Royalty Music, it’s definitely to buy at any music library, or another way is to buy from I tunes store. I think it is the best way for me and i will always suggest the same for everyone.

I believe you are confusing Royatly Free music with other types (such as copyright protected music). With royalty free music, you pay once to license the music and can then use it for various things (including inclusion in video productions) without additional fees being paid (there are differences even among RF for usage - check each song or providers license agreements for details).
I am unaware of RF music being sold on iTunes.
