I'm downloading the vegas video 4 demo right now but I wanted to get others insight. You think this is a good product alot of people seem to be using it. To me Pinnacle edition was a waste of money it has nothing but crashed on me and I'm running a fast computer used only for editing. All i want is stable software. If it wasnt for all the crashing I'd say edition is great but who knows.

I recently moved up to Vegas from Studio based on all of the positive feedback I received on this website as well as other sources. It is definitely not over-hyped. Vegas is powerful, user friendly, and best of all stable. For new Vegas users I have to plug Gary Kleiners DVD tutorials on Vegas. They are a bargain at under $40 and have allowed me to tap into more of the power of Vegas in a short amount of time.

Yea I'm using the demo version and its great. I think I might look into those tuts cause I want to learn the most out of this program before I drop more money on buying it. The one thing that I miss is I like the edition interface. Is there a way to get 2 seperate screen in vegas like you have in edition. One screen was for finished product and the one on the left was for marking ins and outs to make small clips out of longer clips.

No. But why would you need to? The screen shows WHAT you are looking at? If you are looking at a clip in the trimmer, it shows that clip. Otherwise it shows the main timeline. Personally, I just put the clips on the timeline and "trim" them from there.

You might also look at Tsunami (www.jetdv.com/tsunami) which, among other things, has a tool to extract the good segments from a clip on the timeline. Another tool is Excalibur (www.vegastrainingandtools.com) where you can also find Gary's DVD tutorials. There's a newsletter at http://www.jetdv.com/tts as well as a book and DVD set by Douglas Spotted Eagle.
