I just found a pretty cool freeware program called Wax (http://www.debugmode.com/wax/). It's a compositing program and seems pretty cool.
I've only played with it a little bit, but at least I got farther than Jahshaka 2... I was able to add some footage to the timeline and add some effects to it. I haven't tried it out, but it says it's written to be used as a plugin for several NLE's including Vegas.
ChrisColorado, this might be a great addition to your freeware blog if you don't have it there already!
