ProRes RAW video update for Lumix S1H has been delayed

There are some setbacks for the ProRes Raw video firmware for the Lumix S1H. Videographers waiting for the update will have to wait a little longer for the feature.

The firmware update that would record 5.9K ProRes Raw video footage from the Lumix S1H to the Atomos Ninja V has been delayed. Both Lumix and Atomos have confirmed that while the firmware update has been released, however the RAW video feature was not included.

What is causing the delay?

Atomos reports a technical issue is the cause of the delay. While we don’t know how long the delay will be, Atomos says it will be “slight.” While Panasonic focused on the other new features being added thanks to the firmware v2.0. However, both companies say they’re working together to fix the problem and release the RAW video feature for the Lumix S1H.

So, what is the problem?

Right now, there’s no word on what the actual problem is. However, we do know that it cropped up in beta testing. A new released date for the Lumix S1H RAW video feature should be announced “shortly.”

The firmware v2.0 still released

Even though the RAW video feature is being delayed, the firmware v2.0, the update it was going to be in, was released this week. While the RAW video feature was the star of the update, it did release other updates. Here is a few of them:

  • Down converted output over HDMI during [6K]/[5.9K]/[5.4K] Lumix S1H video recording
  • In Creative Video mode, you can disable the operation of starting/stopping video recording by pressing a shutter button
  • In Creative Video mode, you can set [Rec Quality (My List)] from the control panel
  • The value of noise reduction in [V-Log] in Photo Style has been expanded to [-1]
  • Now possible to prevent the enlarged view window of MF Assist to be output over HDMI
